Decanted 1.5 hrs. Fairly consistent tastes of darker fruits with, at times, a big long peppery finish. A decent but unremarkable bottle. Maybe it was the vintage or the age, or the tasters.

A lively and satisfying Syrah. Unlike FRUGALGLUG I think it avoids the error of jammy-afflicted Shiraz specimens. It has an energetic center with a lifted, aromatic, blue-black liqueur of pine-scented blueberry, charcoal, bacon and minty resins, followed by oak spice with loads of gentle, cocoa-coated tannins. There is an herbaceous and lingering finish of ripe olive and a tail of animal fat.
This wine is in great balance now. The ageing trajectory of central coast Syrah is unknown to me.

Another terrific example of the bold and beautiful that is California Syrah. Very big, very juicy and tannins that will suck your soul out and slap it around for good measure. A terribly tiring wine that just happens to have some complexity behind it that makes it just fun enough to reach the end of the bottle. If you like big expression, it's a terrific wine with elements that remind you more of the fluid from Styx than, say, the Danube. Worthy.

Now this was really good! Very fruit forward and lingering on the tongue.
Kept getting better as the night went on.
