Dark garnet core with brighter garnet rim; blueberry, clove, plum, waxy red fruit, deep, smoky, plush, blackberry, green pepper; lots of fruit on the palate, good acid, nice texture, currant, smoky finish, nice balance; solid; was on Napa Bordeaux blend; tastes closer to $40 than $25.
I bought this at a VERY dumpy liquor store in Atlantic City so I expected the worst even though I have had good experience with Whitehall lane. From my perspective, this is a strong effort for the price. The alcohol is a little out of place, but everything else is nicely balanced. Mix of red and blue fruits with no black. A touch of oak and very easy drinking. Has a very bright finish which I warmed up to. Would buy again in a heartbeat. Interested in finding their 2012 now.
Compliments of Alex Yan for my birthday on Saturday-thank you Alex. Nose of jammy red fruit with a hint of cinnamon and spice, more of the same on the palate, both inky and chewy, to me the Cabernet Sauvignon and the Syrah were evident on the palate but the Merlot was not, medium body, will improve slightly if cellared for the next year, medium finish. A nice Napa Red Wine Value at $28.
