  • I was a bit worried about this wine given all of the Parker references in the other notes, and whereas I'm a big admirer of Robert Parker, I'm quite sure "parkerization" is not meant as a complement to any winemaker or chateau. As it turns out, my concerns were overblown and I was pleasantly surprised by the bottle I pulled out of the case (my first). [The wine was purchased upon release and stored in the owc.]

    Big? Yes of course.
    Intense black fruit? Yes
    Tannic? Yes but not harshly.
    Secondary notes? Some
Is it a 100 point wine? Not in my opinion but I'm also not qualified

Overall, my wife and I thought this was a very pleasant bottle of Bordeaux. In my experience, the delicious Pape Clement '05 has not improved with age and I would suspect the '10 will not either. The wine is open for business and will probably mellow for some time before it starts fading. If you own multiple bottles, it might be time to try it out.

  • Deep purple and still opaque at age 13 or so .

Pronounced and still evolving nose of cassis, blackberry liqueur, vanilla and bright blue fruits. Very impressive.

Full bodied with a ton of flavor concentration , plenty of structure and a long and delicious finish.

This cuvee is obviously not shy with the oak and extraction (which may turn off "terroir" snobs) , but for the style this wine is delicious and I'm happy to have a few more bottles in the cellar.

Drink now or hold for 15 + plus years if stored properly.

  • Based on reviews, prior experience, and preference I opened and decanted at breakfast. Nose was a wonderful blueberry, chocolate and saddle. Double decanted before dinner and it was delicious first taste. Yes, definitely Parkerized. More Napa than classic Bordeaux. AFWE that I am I still liked this wine but would always go for the more subtle terroir-expressive reds that may not stand out to Parkers when they’re “tasting” 100 wines in a sitting.

  • Bordeaux 2022 en Primeur and some recent vintages: 1996, 2000 and even 2001 Pape Clement are among the finest Bordeaux experiences I have ever had. After that, this winery switched to excessive Parkerization. The 2010 shows this. Very dense, more Napa than Bordeaux. The balance is not right.

  • Black fruit, espresso, gamey, sometimes reminded me of a syrah. The best of the lineup including 2000, 2010, 2011, 2015. Will last 20 years easily
