Received in a Garagiste $199 mystery case. Well, I hate to admit it, but this screw-top covered California pinot is actually pretty good. There is a certain Vosne spice peppery-ness to it that I really dig. The nose is effusive and clearly New World, but in the mouth there is delicacy and laciness that I was not expecting. Now dont get me wrong, this is not going to convert me or any burgundy lover, but it does impress. As I live not to far from the winery, I would consider going by for a visit. This wine is a pointe now and will not benefit from any additional time in bottle, especially when you consider it is hermetically sealed under a screw cap.

Screw cap - Opened and decanted at 3:pm to have with a roasted Duck. I don't drink a lot of new world pinot's and I'm usually not a big fan, so maybe take my review based on my taste preferences. It was very dark, much more so than I would have expected. Some very sweet candied fruit maybe even verging on the side of candy. In the mouth the sensation of sweet candy was magnified and presented a profile that I'm not a big fan of. Well made wine but I won't be buying or drinking many more of these. NR

Medium palate with red and sweet fruit with earthiness coming on after breathing for half an hour. Good and drinkable but not complex.

Nicely balanced pinot. Mature, but still ripe and rich with a very savory dark strawberry and berry note. Not overly complex but tasty.
