The "old school" sonoma style I am being told. Dry on the palate, savory, with some new world fruit. Well done to my opinion. Maybe more fun at $16, but does work at $20.

The <10% blend of Petit Verdot and Syrah give this Merlot startling complexity with its finish, with notes of spices or peppercorns. The oak aged Merlot itself delivers, unsurprisingly, a wonderful fruit and fine tannins. In all, this is a wonderful wine ready to be enjoyed now.

Past its prime but surprisingly still integrated. Kind of drinkable. Must have been really good a few years ago.

The addition of syrah makes this seem more like a washington state red blend. Simple, but enjoyable.
