Good wine that is both robust yet retains a freshness. There are big dark berry fruits, particularly blackberry and blueberry, which edge to cooked, but never as far as confected. Purity of fruit with a nice tobacco and spice background with just a hint of vanilla. They didn't go overboard on the American oak here. Tannins are firm, but approachable. By no means complex, but perfect for BBQ'd meats.
Dark ruby. Stemmy plum fruit on the nose, with some sweet spicy chocolate notes. Jammy fruit on the palate with some barely restraining acids, tannins quite prominent but well integrated. Long finish. A good party wine, crude but appealing. 50 + 15 + 15 + 7.
