  • Winebar [4 Whites & 8 Reds] from 1/5/18 (Vintage Wines Ltd., San Diego, CA): “Grapes from the ‘Camper’ & ‘Hermanos’ sections of this Vyd tucked among the hills & dry creek beds of the S part of the Santa Lucia Highlands;” Typically, “We ferment it with a measure of whole bunches in the bottom of the tank, and punch it down by hand. 408 cases produced.”

N: RIPE combination of blk olives & candy, with notes of earth?

P: MF body; RNDISH entry with ALMOST swtish frt met by a bit of astringent pucker which, if anything seems to build as it morphs into a LONG, bitterswt choc finish with the bitterness SLIGHTLY dominant. I'm guessing this has peaked & is probably on the decline, though should still hold into EARLY '19. An interesting wine, but not striking me as being typically varietal. My VG-/VG, even given the closeout price @ which it was tasted. . [As of mid Mar '20, wine-searcher still shows 1 source @ $65, though there are discounts for purchasing > 1 bottle].
