The 1990 Branaire is pretty low-key right out of the bottle, but I like the blueberry and tart cranberry notes which expand on the palate, joined by subtle petrichor, pencil, fir, and spice. Perhaps this isn't particularly ambitious, but it's clean, complex, and complete.

Nose: Red currant, red plum, mint, tobacco and cedar. Great red berries and a bit of tobacco. A really nice wine on the nose. Palate: Excellent balance here with mature tart red fruits, mint and spice. Maintains the red current freshness through the palate and wafts of leather and graphite on the back end. Finish was fresh with good persistence.
Close with the Beychevelle, but the WOTN for me very clearly here in this lovely blind flight with Englishman's Claret. Thank you!

From magnum. Just a delightfully, well aged, right down the fairway, red to dark fruited claret. It’s resolved, plenty of tertiary development, and in my opinion, ready to drink

Dark red, some sediment in the bottle, nose of old Bordeaux, spice, dry cherry, leather, can feel the age on palate, 5-8 years earlier would have been great. It’s good I enjoy some old Bordeaux wines.
