  • Two bottles, both which flew out of my cellar in record time. Compared to the 2012 which was enjoyed between these two bottles, this wine is a darker expression of a St. Emilion Grand Cru wine that has a lot of tobacco and cigar but also shows terroir exceptionally well for a wine in its price point. I don't think these wines are exceptional agers, but I do believe that they can be laid down for up to 7 years. Very pleasant wine. Might order more of the 2012!

  • With all the smack and throw down about the recent Texas HB1514 witch hunt, I'm not sure I should admit to heavily armed Texans that I really enjoyed this wine. This wine took about 45 minutes to express. Poured a dark purple into the glass with nose of nitrogen, cola, mint. On the palate, good acidity and supple mouthfeel. The middle of the wine showed an earthy mushroom and young, black fruit. Finishes lighter actually with a floral perfume. Tannic, even after 2 hours. Dried tobacco leaf and black licorice showing up eventually.
Great density to this wine. Tasted the 2012 in the winery but bought more of this one. Labeled appropriately as a St Emilion Grand Cru and sold at a Fredericksburg winery. Truthful about origins -- nothing wrong with that!! This one is good to go now but better in a few more years.
