  • Almost completely opaque dark cherry color with a light purple hue. Initially the nose is all about créme de cassis and blackcurrant jam with some woody spice, but as the wine opens up, more noticeable aromas of mocha coffee, bell pepper and mint chocolate emerge. The wine is juicy, supple and full-bodied on the palate with medium acidity, rather modest ripe tannins and rather sweet flavors of ripe dark berries, milk chocolate, cocktail cherry, some bell pepper and a hint of blackcurrant jam. The dark-toned finish is quite long and pretty warm (14,5% alc.) with some tannic grip and sweet, extracted flavors of milk chocolate, peppery spice, overripe blackcurrant, some dark cherry, a little rich woody oak, a hint of sweet pruney fruit and a hint of bell pepper.

Meh. A blowzy, sweet and overoaked Aussie red that is lacking pretty much in the structure department. Drinks more like an alcoholic beverage flavored with milk chocolate, mint and blackcurrant jam with a pinch of bell pepper than anything remotely related to wine. Although not a lousy wine, this is quite a disappointment - a stereotypic Australian red that serves only to reinforce stereotypes on Australian reds. Really overpriced at 15€.

  • Wine tasting for Index (S-Osis, Turku): Opened for about 1.5 hours. Well, this was exactly what I was looking for, a nasty overly fruity wine with oak that jumps screaming into your face. I could barely drink this and indeed left my glass unfinished.
