Boxing Day Tasting (Birch Road Cellar - Chicago IL): Single blind CdlR flight of Dujac 2010 & 2012, Rousseau 2012. Elegant and charming right now, even if the lightest of the three wines in the flight. Whole cluster is slightly too dominant right now.

Single blind Dujac CdlR 10 | 12 | Rousseau 12 CdlR. I found the two Dujac wines rather easy to pick out with distinct whole cluster stem spice. Further, the '10 Dujac was also rather easy to pick out from the '12 is it was more ready to go and seamless vs. the still chunky, backward 2012 Dujac. While this was plenty drinkable now and showing lots of pleasure in the house style, it's clearly still holding back some, and not fully seamless yet. Upside from here.

Full of mineral and earth and whispers of dark fruits from the earth. Last wine of an impressive wine pairing that was brighter more fruit-forward wines so this apparently wasn't showing well because it was the most expensive bottle and I'm giving it the lowest score of the night.

Wine Group Dinner #198, Harvey's Restaurant, Fortitude Valley. This wine was one of eight 2012 Grand Cru Burgundies opened for this dinner. While not the richest wine of this group it certainly showed beautifully with a scented nose of complex red berry fruits, pepper and spice and violets. The palate was all about texture, gossamer and shimmering lights of red fruits with a fine finish without the weight or intensity of the wines that followed. Charming and delicious with nothing out of place.
