Wine Tasted at Acker Auction (Marea - New York NY): In 00/99/96 vertical, small tastes of each. Savory spice with ripe red and black cherry with just enough structure, perfectly off center in the immediate background, providing just perfect textures. Great weight and density. While I have only had the pleasure to taste Jayer's Cros Parantoux perhaps ten times, this 2000 is exactly like the other greats- it doesn't demand your attention, but you are unable to be distracted once you give it your attention.

JK's 50th Birthday: Reserve 01005/1494. My favorite of the flight in 96/99/00. Superb aromatics, so lacy, so pure, but so dense. Almost glass-like crispy acidity. Ever so slight step behind the 2001, but very classic. 97

Textbook Jayer aromatics. Classic de-stemmed cream and sous bois aromatics. Impressively clean bottle purchased on release. Plenty of palate depth and length on offer. (01062)

Opened for comparison to the ‘01, which is the superior wine both absolutely and technically, but this is an equally as nuanced and detailed bouquet, roses and brighter red cherry fruit. There is more explosiveness and flamboyance here whereas the ‘01 is a more classical image of beauty. Round, open-knit, warm, and inviting, but still ethereal and cerebral. Less in the way of limestone or bouldery influence here. Absolutely stunning in any case. A singing, glowing, brilliant wine.
