Wow, this is a big boy! This wine is absolutely delicious. 18 months in French oak is well integrated, but not shy. Layers of vanilla on top of plush red fruit give a round and velvety mouthfeel. Full, big, rich, fun. Open this up to impress your friends who are stuck on Napa wines. If you’re pairing this with food, stick away from spaghetti and pizza. Save this for a roast or a romantic evening.

I served this in my wine course. Nose of oak, cocoa, cherry. Rich mouth with continuation of high fruit and oak. Some bitterness on the finish provides lift and makes this interesting. An international style Barbera. Personally prefer a higher acid old school take on Barbera, but found this to be well done for what it is.

Dinner at Trelio (Clovis Ca.): Good dose of oak here...leather, rich dark fruits....cherry liqueur...good acidity..but really needs a little more to cut that oak. I liked this more than others.
