Nose: turned earth, plum, blackberry, tarragon, thyme and garden mulch. Palate: very earthy dark fruits, bell pepper and herb garden notes. Moderate weight, but not fully unfurling now. This really needs time now that the youthful fruit has closed up.

Consumed over the course of the weekend, and just confirmed my thoughts about this wine when first tasted.
Nose: Plum, Blackberry, Earth, Pepper, Herbs and Mushroom. Palate: Great acidity and layered fruit. Nice earth tones that just get a bit of spice. Finish: Long with notes of cherry and pickles. Beautiful Cab Franc.

(Gordon's wine tasting, from Neal Rosenthal). Whatever your own "grand wines," sometimes a wine of lesser pedigree speaks much more eloquently of its grape and it's terroir. This is that wine. Very aromatic, leading with cassis, graphite, earth and a touch of green-- I would have said oregano. Then the cigar box comes through. Great length. Silky tannins. Completely intoxicating from the first whiff. What a feat to make a wine that delivers so much so well now but also promises so much for the future. I wanted to dive in and drown in this. No higher quality to price ratio seems possible.

Russk. Whiners Cab Franc tasting @ Marido's. One of the best Loire's in the tasting. Decent price. Get some.

Very well balanced with bright acidity and chalky minerals. Delicious.
