  • Quite delicious. Earthy, peppery, big fruit, nice texture and finish as well.

  • Primary at times, this offers quite a lot on the nose, a little less so on the palate (read: in retrospect, I should have decanted for an hour or two as this continued to unfold and reinvent itself right through the final glass). Excellent acidity, fine, mostly resolved tannins, full body/well lifted, EtOH (14,4% abv) resolved. Bloody hamburger, loam, olive tapenade, something stemmy, green peppercorn, etc. This gave a lot of pleasure, but if I had any, I'd be opening the next one in 2-3 years, or more, as it's clearly got the potential to develop more secondary, and perhaps even some tertiary aspects. Very nice, excellent food wine. HOLD. recommended+

    Served non-blind; screwcap.

  • Seemed off balance. Attractive nose, some leather and rose petal, but really reticent on the palate. High acid, little fruit, tannic.

  • Decanted ~1 hour, one glass consumed over 1 hour with grilled beef, home fries & grilled veggies. Our experience echoes other recent notes - this never fully opened up much (moreso on the nose than on the palate), but the restrained dark berry fruit, hints of peppery spice, and forward acidic structure still all worked well with dinner. 90ish right now, with good potential...a little time should be good for these, and there's no reason at all to rush.

  • Plenty of depth and focus on this wine, but it seems more tightly wound than my last bottle. Perhaps it's closing in a little bit? Black fruit and licorice with a touch of baking spices still provide a good bit of drinking pleasure, but either this needs more air (I gave it 90 minutes after a double decant) or a few years to wake up from slumber. There's plenty of back-end structure to allow this to sit in the cellar for a while and open back up.
