  Mid ruby. Quite light with a slightly orange zest feel to the red fruit. Smooth and silky with perhaps just a pinch of tannin that nods towards Pommard. Drinking well. ****

  Ian's Blind @ Medlar (The Medlar, London): Blind. Burgundy nose. We all assume Nuits but it turns out to be Beaune. Sweet fruited, good acidity, fresh. Quite polished and rounded, but quite full too. The consensus is to go for village ( Volnay seems popular) but I think producer is the key here as I'm not convinced it's Volnay. Pousse d'Or? Yes. Santenay Tavannes from a ripe year eg 90, or a Pommard from a more acidic year? Pommard, so must be 93. Yes, Jarollieres. ****

  still reltaively young. Dark cherry flavors with plenty of acid, great smokey, cherry nose. This did fade a bit after it was in the glass for ten minutes, but the bottle held up well through the course of a four hour evening. Can wait a bit for the last bottle, but this is at it's peak already.
