An extraordinary wine for the thinkers. Quaffing drinkers need not apply.
Bright yellow with an intensity to shine. Notes of ginger, honey, marmalade and smokiness - wow! Body is tense and dense, not one for the fainted heart. Still somewhat tightly wound with great texture and depth - creaminess, summer white fruits, nectarine, pear and perhaps caramel. Lovely intensity but beautifully resolved by a fine finish with lovely acidity and depth. You can drink a case of this and still not comprehending it all. Almost a religious experience.
Drink now to 10+ years although I would err on the younger side.

The wine was flat and lifeless. I fear it was heading to the gods of oxidation. This is the second time this has happened in the last 6 months. The last bottle was a 2012 bottle in Ampuis and ditto!

First Wednesday Wine Club Rhone Dinner (One Penny Red, Summer Hill): Honey, butter, a little cold dampness, bruised stone fruits, a touch of savouryness. Soft, textured burr, rasps, a little honey, stone fruit, a little apple, super persistent. Drink-up on this tasting.

Beautiful Wednesday tasting (@Private location, S-Botnang): Glass: Spiegelau Burgundy. Decanted for about 2h . Clear, deep golden-amber color. Clean, medium+ intense, developing nose. Dried fruit (apricot, fig), oxidative notes, very mineral, zests, floral notes, complex and very deep. On the palate dry, lots of extract, 13,5% abv, medium acidity. Dried fruit, orange notes, floral notes, oxidative notes, nuts, very mineral. Wonderful round and balanced, great texture and tension, very long and complex finish. Drink now or over the next two decades, I assume it will not change much. 94-95

Sherry-like with toasted almond, dried apricot, honey, beeswax, and vanilla bean. Texturally perfect. Full body, med- acid, low tannin. This wine is powerful, you can almost chew through it. The finish goes for a minute plus. Wow! Drink now and ovet the next 5 or so. Don’t wait too long.
