  • Pn'p. My initial mistake was when I picked up this bottle I thought it was a 2005. Intoxicating aromas of thyme, camphor and mushrooms on the forest floor. Also a few notes of red berries and marzipan. As a young GR, just a teen, that it is needs some time to blossom calming down those memories of sweet spices from white oak. Noticeable there's no a trace of coconut neither drill. Pitifully. On the palate it is almost ready with a watery texture, lively acidity and a shortie persistence for a GR standards. Lovely legs in the glass. Serious and not typical Bordón with some time ahead. A food wine indeed but I would like to have a magnum of this right now.

Abierta y servida.

    Wine Tally Score [2,2,2,2] = 8/10

At its best after 5 hours in wide-base decanter.
Bit lighter in body, higher in acidity, and more vibrant than the 2005 (tasted on 12/28/2018)
Both worthy example of traditional style Rioja.

  • Aged with abundance of tertiary notes. Tannins are a little weak, acid is gone and the taste is a little weak. It is the nose that gets the attention and I am not sure everyone appreciates it. Stables and a strange herb found in Sweden (ostronört) which is awkward. Cannot see how this would improve over time. Last bottle.

  • Great wine!
Lots of tasting notes are describing a second day after opening.
    But how is that possible?
The better the wine the faster you have a empty bottle on table.
We always drink a wine together. Me and my lovely wife. And if its not empty in +/- 2-3 hours than we have a problem. The wine isn't so good.
    ----
Bordon Gran reserva 2006 (the last bottle frome the cellar) is brilliant and of great aromatic complexity. Warm, rich and silky taste. That's how Bordon writes on the back label. Wel it's true. From the first zip it's velvet rich and silky with a sweetness you only can find with the best in class.
    By and drink now!
It's on top now and is not getting any better.
