  • Had on a picnic yesterday and this was absolutely singing. Toast, tropical and citrus fruits, nutty, buttery, minerally, and a lovely spiced finish. Every thing that is good and sexy about white burgundy. This is a very expressive wine, and is just passing the first flushes of youth. What is lovely about this wine, is that it has none of that 06 flabbiness.

Fresh acidity and poise and balance mark this wine out for greatness. The finish is long and mildly spiced. A lovely way to bring in springtime.

    To conclude yum yum yum!!

  • 13,5% d'alcool, 100% Chardonnay
Oeil : paille léger à reflets jaunâtres, viscosité moyenne en parois
Nez : projection d'intensité 4/10, très frais, citron confit, citron frais, crème fraîche, carambole, chair de pomelo, fleur de tilleul... fleur blanche, pointe de camomille, petit côté salin, élégant, invitant
Bouche : sec, ample, acidité rafraîchissante+, amertume moyenne, persistance moyenne+, rétro fruitée, citronnée, minérale
Conclusion : superbe évolution depuis notre dernière visite. Gagne en définition sans perdre son équilibre général. À revisiter en 2014+. 89+(?)

(Bouchard Père et Fils Beaune du Château) A bright and pretty medium cherry-red colour. The nose is a broad and forward blend of sweet toasty elements, some coffee even something faintly resembling fruit. Obvious, but quite well textured and slightly astringent tannin. Good intensity that grows and grows before peaking in the mid-palate. Helped by perfect acidity there is a very good length - but that length is mainly oak derived and relatively bitter - much more than a bitter chocolate effect. I’m sure this will be nicer, and perhaps even ‘worthy’ in a couple of years, but frankly today the forward oak left me with little to enjoy.

(Bouchard Père et Fils Beaune du Château) A mix of red berries and an additional darker aspect which seems to be from the oak. Ripeness, intensity, lovely acidity and a creaminess to the fruit that covers the slightly grainy tannin. There is some oak flavour but it’s not overdone. Lingers well on the tongue - as usual it’s an easy ‘buy’ recommendation.

(Bouchard Père et Fils Beaune du Château) From 4 parcels; Aigrots, Tuvilains, Sizies and Sur Les Grèves. A deeper nose than the bourgogne, more brioche too. A richer and softer texture in the mouth. Plenty of mid-palate interest and a decent length. The acidity is understated though I never felt it to be lacking.
