Flannery night at the loft (My place, newk’s loft, Portland OR): The nose is licorice-laced and probably working on the downslide with black cherries, black raspberries, plums, currants, tobacco leaf, spices, violets, and some crushed rocks. This shows off good depth, but just lacks that extra level to really drive it. The feel is Full bodied with tart, medium+ acidity and silky, medium+ tannins. While the structure has pulled back, there is a slight bitterness to the tannins and the feel is lacking just a little bit on the mid-palate. This felt like its on the downslope of its life. It is still really tasty with a classic Priorat profile.

Drank with tapas at Solera on 5/22/04. A blend of Grenache and Carignan, the wine was less tannic than I expected. It was slightly restrained, but opened up very well in the glass. It paired very well with the tapas, particularly the spicy dishes. I would definitely try this again.

Had hoped for more since I like Priorats. I may have waited too long to try it. Pencil shaving aroma. Did not have a long finish.
