  • Last tasted in 2015 and it was worth keeping this long. Still a very deep, opaque colour. The nose has the same black fruit and vanilla character. The dark cherry fruit now predominates on the palate - the acidity is now soft and integrated, as is the smooth tannin. There seems to be a little less of the 'sweetness' noted earlier but there is still spice and the wine remains full and quite long. It changed in the glass and opened over an hour or two showing maturity and character. I don't think it will show further development and, with time in the glass, there was just a hint of vegetal character (but see the note below).
Note. This was stunning with food. The difference with a rare sirloin was remarkable. The fruit was back to its former 'sweet' character and any suggestion of flaws above can be discounted. Wine is made for food, after all.... I have raised my score a point. Superb, very high quality Merlot.
Sadly, it is my last bottle of this vintage. It would have lasted longer.

  • I cellared this for 7 years and it paid off! Outstanding structure and balance, fairly lengthy finish. -excellent value here when cellared properly.

  • This one has developed nicely, really exceeded my expectations, full bodied, complex, still vivid fruits, solid and balanced, the alcohol was not detectable this time. Could keep for another 4-5y and will improve.

  • notes of blackberry at first, paired well with T-bone steak and corn and avocado salad, after about half an hour it opened up more, with notes of cassis, black cherry. The cellaring experiment worked! It definitely improved since 2013 and is now a high quality wine. Perhaps a bit thinner than a top merlot but it's close!
It paired very well with dessert: dried candied ginger with dark chocolate!
