Nice wine. Well integrated. Herb and leather on the nose, with some dark fruit and floral notes. Immediate taste of baking spice and strawberry, transitioning to clay pot and darker fruit, and then finishing with a robust black pepper. Still worthy of 2 hours in the decanter. Good value.

Solid chianti, drinking great now. Wouldn't let sit too much longer as it's likely at its peak or slightly past. Well balanced, nice fruit & nose, exactly what you're looking for in a chianti under $20

drunk the evening after drinking the 1985 Monsanto Il Poggio, this came across as very primary, but also sharing the deep, intense and slightly chunky black cherry fruit. Very vibrant acids - verging on tart - bring freshness to the wine's rich fruit. Well - checked tannins are noticeable and a very fine finish. Very well made and easy to drink, this wine offers more than just a pleasant chianti experience, bringing vibrancy and juicy, intense fruit to the table.

Classy drop with good character in a ripe, easy to drink and commercial style. Rich mouth feel with typical sour cherry aromas and flavours, plenty of leather and earth and lowish tannins and acids. Close to outstanding. No reason to hold further, but this will continue to hold and possibly improve for the next 5 years....
