Rustic, traditional vibes, lots of soy sauce, dark berry fruits, plums, orange peel, while retaining a nice jolt of acidity. It's quite lean and powdery on the finish, which reflects both the vintage and the age. Well made but not earth shaking.

VR vs CM good producers (Shin Terrior): Blind, good depth on the nose, chinese herbal, some ginseng with good freshness at the back, hint of mint with underlying red fruits. On the palate more secondary flavours showing, lovely ginseng like aromas. Drank this 9 years ago and was impressed with it. The green notes of 2004 integrated well and good fruits to support bringing complexity.

Vosne / Chambolle 1ers from good producers theme: Youthful but not as complete and full-bodied as the previous time I had this, could definitely tell this was from a lean vintage so guessed 2011. Others noted bitterness on the finish but thought the shrillness was more distracting to me. Still a very good wine, mind.

Top 1ers for AK's birthday: No greenness here whatsoever. Alluring, sensual nose that was quintessential Vosne. Brilliant, pure dark red fruit that I thought it must have been from a strong vintage like 99 or 02. Loved the intensity and verve on this. Pascal’s wines can be (unfairly) maligned but maybe it was just a matter of waiting for them to blossom? Absolutely stunning and the unanimous WOTN.

Lean with noticeable bitterness at finish. Only wine I didn’t finish the glass. Vintage issues.
