Day 3 in the Mosel - Schaefer/Selbach-Oster/Prum (Mosel Saar Ruwer - Germany): Twice in one day! We bought this off the list at Richtershof having totally forgotten we had just tried this with Johannes Selbach just hours earlier. Still showing very well, it had a lot of lemony/peachy/lychee flavors. Delicious.

Day 3 in the Mosel - Schaefer/Selbach-Oster/Prum (Mosel Saar Ruwer - Germany): A real treat. Beautiful "mosely" nose of lychee, petrichor, peach, and strawberries. Johannes said these grapes were picked on 11/17/2004 and came in very clean. The purity on the palate was evident with intense concentration of the peach and red fruit notes with stony edges and lots of energy. A beautiful wine.

Light golden color. Amazing aromatics. On the palate, very rich but counterbalanced by good acidity and light, abundant fruit. This one was deep in the pocket and has a long life ahead of it, wish I had more to follow the progress. Needs spicy, umami laden food to really show its stuff.

Drank during Thanksgiving. Nice complexity and worked well to cut through some of the heavy food, but lacked the clarity to be a great wine. Lemon-lime, slate, and honeycomb. Obvious weight on the palate, but not as fresh as I wanted. Very clean fruit flavors with no petrol note that Johannes describes as a fault. I believe this wine is entering into it's secondary stage of complexity as there are more notes than I remember from the last time I had it.

Honey, flowers, chalk, apples and apple skins, and lemon on the nose. Rich in the mouth. Just enough acidity to carry through to a long, slightly spicy finish. I know DS said otherwise in TWA, but this has some of that great 'juicy' quality I love in Mosels. May never be profound, but...yum.
