  • Tasted blind. Clear, med. garnet, showing a little age. Med (+) to intense nose of ripe red cherry, baked plum, orange peel, aromatic herbs, licorice, savory spices, smoke and a touch of baking spice from one yr in new French Oak tonneaux. Still developing. Dry, but fruit-forward, with med to med (+) acidity and tannins and high alcohol. Med (+) flavor intensity and length. More youthful than one would expect for a 9 yr old wine, it punches way above its price point. 75% Grenache, 15% Syrah, 10% Mourvedre. Drink through 2025.

Old World wine from a moderate to warm climate. Possible varieties include Grenache, Syrah, Nebbiolo, Aglianico, Corvina. No indicia of appassimento, so not likely to be an Amarone. Not enough acidity and tannin for a Nebbiolo or Aglianico and also not dark enough to be the latter. Seemingly too complex for a Grenache, but of course it's a Southern Rhone blend!

  • The cork did not look completely proof and some air elapsed or Viceversa.
Obviously The result was A surprise: excellent Deep Fruit and ripeness. Perfect Harmonie and balance. No sign of weekness and at Perfect drinking condition!

  • Bright ruby red on the pour. With an hour, this showed complex herbal, licorice and spice notes. Very nice and more punch than I expected from a basic CDP.
