Aspen Food & Wine Classic Trip; 6/17/2015-6/22/2015 (Aspen, Colorado): This deep ruby wine (a blend of 85% Cabernet Sauvignon and 15% Cabernet Franc) offers aromas and flavors of black raspberries, anise, dark chocolate and fig. Full-bodied, fresh and with big firm tannins, it stays solid in the middle and shows no alcoholic heat. The finish is lengthy, but flaunts the "not ready" astringency of its tannic backbone. Give this gem some time. It may merit an even higher score in the future. Drink 2021-2035.
United Cellars Bordeaux tasting 2015 (Harbour 220/L15 131 Macquarie Street): funky and farty aromas, savoury black fruits and wet stone. On agitation the fruit gains a little sweetness. On the palate the wine is juicy , savoury with both red and black fruit and then almost devastating tannins that dry the out completely leaving a faint impression of the fruit and a little biscuit note. Come back in a millennia or three.
