Friday Night Double Blind Tasting $40+ (Bin 75): Dull ruby with good clarity; Double Bubble, wood spice, deep red sour cherry, floral, slight raspberry; good depth, new, fresh, sour cherry, nice richness and structure, good nobility but shorter finish; delicious.

Old World Blind Tasting Group $40+ (Bin 75): See through dull maroon; reductive, stony, limestone, berry, bone, very sour dark cherry, sour plum; soft texture, silky; good; was in wrong part of Cote d'Or.

Very pure Burgundy. Nice mineral/earthy component. Sour fruit. Well balanced and smooth. If you are wanting true red Burgundy at a reasonable price (under $40), this does not disappoint!

Walter Hansel vs. Grand Cru Burgundy (Bin 75): Darker dull maroon, see through; sulfur, bright sour cherry, wild cherry, raspberry, darker fruit profile with white rock lurking behind; tart, taut, fresh, nice grip, almost grainy mineral and youthful tannin, long finish; very good but not the "bridging" style I was hoping for in the lineup tonight.

Solid Santenay in peak drinking window. Pure, fresh red fruit with a hint of spices and earth developing underneath. Supple and vibrant on the palate.
