From 30 year old vines, destemmed and aged mainly in 1-2 year old barriques for 15 months. Dark berries, smoked meats and some funkyness - hard to say is it earthyness or barn, but it's a bit funky. Palate is bold with black cherry jam, spices, inkyness and again a bit of funkyness. It has really nice balance and great structure. Could be mistaken for a Hermitage if served blind. It is very drinkable, but could be paired really easily with game or beef. Really lovelu stuff if funkyness doesn't bother you.

Direkt nach dem Öffnen probiert. - Farbe: Tiefrot / schwarz. Sehr konzentriert. - Bouquet zeigt etwas weißen Pfeffer. Und Pflaume? - Wenig Tannine. Gut spürbare Säure. Dahinter Pflaume und Blaubeere. - Schmeckt aber rund und integriert.

Dinner at Le Grand Restaurant, JF Piege (Le Grand Restaurant, Paris): Decently good rather than great, this was nevertheless a good pairing with a lamb dish. The nose had slight layer of funk to it, with a pong of wet fur lifting to show jammy dark berry, violet and garrigue notes. Pleasant, if you can get past the funk. The palate was a step behind though. It had pretty nice flavours of dark berries and black cherries and was decently balanced and structured, with soft tannins and well-integrated acidity lending it a nice shape. I thought it lacked a bit of depth and conviction though, ending a bit light and short on the back palate, where it petered away with a soupçon of spice. All in all, not bad, but not by no means a great wine.

Rather too much creamy oak at this stage.
