  • 11 years old and the best bottle so far from this case (2 left). Black fruits, quite some depth and a long finish. Lovely mouth feel.

  • OK, this was from the same lot and evidently the same OCB as the last bottle but here the cork was perfect. [shrug] Delicious and maybe a wee bit fresher but that could just be my mind after seeing the cork. So happy these wines are pretty well ignored.

  • I love this vineyard and this producer. Yes, they are made in a fruitier style, but the preponderance of old "Pinot Fin" clones and the situation of this vineyard at the top of the Coombe really resonates with me. Like always, it's saline, sappy and rich, with dark fruit, minerals and maybe a hint of black licorice. There is a floral topnote and a bit of an earthy, leathery bottom note but the prevailing driver is the core of fruit. It starts to fold in a bit after being open for a few hours making me think while it is delicious now, it would be ideal to let it cellar for a few more years. I'll be tucking into them regularly, though, since this was the first from a case. This was a recent auction purchase from HDH in OCB where I've had good luck with bottle condition. This bottle showed some staining about 1/3 of the way up the cork indicating less than perfect provenance. Buying at auction is a crap shoot and that's why I only bid on stuff like this that falls under peoples' radar and I can get for a discount. Here, it was 34% below current retail, with auction vig and shipping (tax and shipping would need to be added to that retail, so probably an even better deal). I'm glad no one else seems to like this producer.

  • Lovely spices in the nose. Slightest of smoke. Complex. Dark fruit. Hint of cedar. Actually rather low key but the aftertaste is long and balance is sublime.

  • Maybe still not ready to drink. Kept reticent in day 2. I can't give a proper description about this wine.
