Brought this to dinner at Agricola in Princeton with Val and Charlotte. Great chance to drink a bit of CdP...Splash decanted and drank over an hour.
From prior notes:" Rich ruby color. Nose showing dark berries, smoke and garrigue/ underbrush. Palate showing blackberry, red currant, plums, licorice, underbrush, spice/pepper, mocha(?). Nice spice notes through the mid palate. Medium weight and finish...."
The spice is really nice at this point, showing better after about 20 minutes. Good energy and depth at this point. Should continue to drink well for a while.

Dark ruby bordering on purple. A dark, brooding Châteauneuf smelling of blackberry, black cherry, spicy bay leaf and rosemary. Big, ripe and hot on the palate, the 15% alcohol becomes a distraction. Flavors of black cherry, black tea and sweet smoked herb lead into a grippy, mouth-drying finish.

Really good showing on this evening, classically spiced CdP. From memory I remember the oak being slightly more pronounced in last bottles a few years back. Oak and tannins have softened. Paired very nicely with the spiced veggies served by our host. In a good spot now but no rush to drink, should have a good arc ahead of it. Air time made a difference, much more expressive after an hour than when first opened.

Medium ruby, bright reflections. Poured at 55F - starts out shy with faint garrigue on the nose, bright red fruit on the palate and chunky tannins. As the wine warms up, the alcohol (and slight VA) becomes noticeable, as are spiced raspberry, burnt herbs, black olives, lavender and game. Some astringency on the finish. Complex and deeply concentrated flavors. Bold, perhaps a smidgin over the top, but enjoyable.

No notes taken. Beautiful CNPD for the price (CA$47 LCBO) Garrigue, grilled herbs, spice box... Lots of ripe fruit and smooth tannins... Very nice and ready! 92+

Dinner w/Isobel and Jeroen - eclectic and fun lineup of wines (Chez Hoevers - Princeton, NJ): Good excuse to check in on this...last tasting was 2015 and the Holidays are perfect for the Rhone...:) Bottles purchased direct during a trip to CdP and visit to their tasting room. Decanted for about an hour prior to drinking.
