Final bottle, and for once I heeded my own advice and drank it “soonish”. Very similar to my previous note, very attractive character of grapefruit and earth, medium body, good flavour intensity and length. Seems more energetic than previous bottles. It will be interesting to see how this estate evolves after the changes in recent years. The 2015 tasted at the estate was very good, but also 50% more expensive than this 2012...

Showing very well today, really beautifully expressive nose (flowers, earth, spice, apricot, grapefruit), elegant weight on the palate (12.5% ABV), firm but pleasant bitters provide structure and grip, but the acidity is slightly low and for this reason the follow-through is not completely convincing. Very attractive, to be enjoyed soonish. Drink now - 2020.

8767 days of The Papies (Le Manoir aux Quat' Saisons, Oxfordshire, UK): By the glass at the Manoir aux Quat' Saisons. From magnum, Relatively freshly opened. A very good dry Riesling at a very good time in its life. Light touch of the "petrolly" nose, good ripe fruit, firm acidity, light citrus feel and a touch of waxy texture. Good palate presence and very versatile wine. Very good and a solid 91

A private lunch (Restaurant Le Manoir aux Quat'Saisons **, Great Milton, UK): Magnum. Fruit salad and and a slightly earthy, spicy character, good ripeness of fruit, fresh and slightly savoury, good weight and ampleur, noticeable bitters, complete finish, good length. Attractive wine, slightly low on energy, for drinking now.

Crazy, starke Rhabarbernote, Stachelbeere, Quitte, Honig/Karamell, fast eine trockene Auslese. Keine Säure mehr.
