This was an impressive wine and a nice QPR. Vibrant red fruit on the nose with a smaller dose of forest floor. On the palate a nice hit of fruit but with surprisingly good acidity for an '03 that's now 7yrs old. If there's one gripe is that the finish is relatively short, but this was otherwise a very solid wine.

(at l'Absinthe - NYC) This wine delivered way beyond expectations. All the negative press of this vintage was not apparent in this wine. Good fullish red/ruby color. Wild strawberry/cherry fruit with a lovely dusting of forest leaves - not at all candied. Broad attack that lingers well. Does not fall off. First '03 Fixin tasted, but super QPR and a potential sweet spot for the vintage. Will try to check out more. (91)

(Gelin Pierre Fixin Clos Napoléon) The nose first shows oak, but it is less obvious than the 2003 Gevrey and more fruit-driven. This is a real mouthful of wine - it burrows into your palate - lots of grainy texture. Quite a good length, but overall just a little more rustic than the the 2003 Meivelle
