Best Burger Event, Monthly Tasting Group (Jason and Tracy's, Mpls, MN): Drank a small pour blind. Lighter color, slightly bricked, Raisinated, older, dried fruit, prune, black cherry, firm tannins, heat, fruit fading, older, hot. Close on the age, called this 2002, thought maybe Wash or Cali red blend over the hill.

4th Saturday Group brown bagger (Our house): Roasted and extremely ripe...plum and raisin with a very subtle underlying floral quality. Flavors of raisin and prune on the palate turning sour and acidic on the finish. Develops a bouillon aroma as it sits. Better suited to clean your drain than drink. Ripe nasty shit. Everyone guessed Zin, and I knew as soon as I smelled it that it was the Turley...exactly why I stopped buying these.

Crimson in color with browning on the edges. 16% ABV. Sweet port like aromas of prunes and brown sugar. Cherries, plums, rhubarb and licorice on the palate. The wine almost seems slightly maderized. Drink now. I've had better luck with other '04's from Turley. Somewhat disappointing.

Medium purple color; nose of ripe prune, chewy black fruit, slightly high alcohol; palate is slightly unbalanced, showing too much alcohol, full bodied, sweet fruit; medium length finish. Enjoyable, but too off balance to be at usual Turley greatness. A huge wine. 89

Lots of cassis. Somewhat sweet. A bit dialed up on the alcohol. Good at least through 2014. But not improving.
