A Fantastic Thai Meal with Some Cracking Wines (San Francisco): Fine ruby color. Aromas of red fruit and pomegranate. Medium weight, noticeable but not overwhelming oak. Lovely mix of ripe fruit, spice, and soil in the mouth with pretty gentle finishing tannins. Excellent but as with other M-M wines, I was left a bit disappointed with the outcome compared to what might have been given the outstanding site. Just comes up a bit short in intensity and texture, although the wood was toned down compared to the 2015 version of this we had earlier this year.

Dinner at S.K.Y. (S.K.Y. restaurant, Pilsen, Chicago IL): This is a bit tight at first and also shows some oak notes as well (though far from dominating) while showing excellent depth and class with tones of dark red fruits, cranberries, dark red cherries, herbs, licorice, spice notes, earth, tobacco, and sour red fruits. There is a ton going on the nose as it shows off great depth and class. The Medium bodied feel is deep and balanced with crisp, medium+ acidity and youthful, medium+ tannins. This clearly needs more time and likely another 5+ years before settling into a long window. The class of the wine is here, it’s just not fully harmonized yet.

Really interesting wine.
This wine is full of complexity.
It shows fruity, spicy, earthy and keeps on developing.
Amazing

Lovely nose of aniseed, ginger, red berry and sweet cherry. It is full, spicy and sappy with excellent depth and a finish that is long and complex.
