This is a really pretty wine. Well done Allister!!! It has a beautiful fruit quality, lots of lift, and no heaviness (except the big bottle). Great balance and very very smooth.
Opened and decanted for twelve hours; served at about 17 degrees Celsius. 54% Cabernet Sauvignon; 34% Shiraz; 12% Merlot.
Colour: bright, dark cherry. Very lively bouquet. Taste: rich, but not heavy; lots of red and black fruits.
The 12% Merlot component really gives this wine a pretty quality; lots of lift. Elderton is making such interesting and enjoyable wines that are very different in style to the big, full, heavy wines of the 1990s and early 2000s. Bravo!! Tasted blind, one would be hard pressed to say Barossa Cab-Shiraz blend. Fantastic food wine.
An absolute steal at it's release price point. Great to see screw cap in action as the wine has evolved perfectly since purchase in 2012.
My only complaint: what's with the gigantic bottle, mate?

Sweet nose with hints of alcohol. Violet color that does not reveal much. The wine itself is very full bodied with a blend of lots of fruit impressions. Well balanced with a high level of acids and tannins that seems to intermingle instantaneously. Long albeit not that complex but pleasant finish. A bargain for the price. Will buy again for sure.

Solid. More acidity, less fruit that usual expect. Still solid product year in, year out

Bright, over-extracted and generally unremarkable. Hoping second bottle is much better given the price point.
