Roulot's 2012 Poruzots is killer tonight, still so youthful in presentation but complex in character with curry leaf reduction, popcorn, and crushed stone. Massive dry extract on the palate, great concentration and lengthy finish. Excellent.

Late night glass this was totally convincing. Very good freshness, lots of vigour but also amazing fruit intensity. A very precise and pitch perfect example of a great white Burg.

Served blind. Beautiful nose, deep lemon fragrance with a lovely flinty element. Deep and satisfying palate, perhaps a bit lacking in acid but otherwise perfectly on point.

Roulot's 2012 Poruzots is in the zone tonight with well-integrated reduction, Meyer lemon, Coche-esque popcorn, and crushed stone. Significant dry extract, concentrated and intense. Excellent.

Self-isolation wine highlights (Wellington, NZ): In self-isolation with limited wines at home, I decided to open a few (hopefully) nice bottles ... and this was something very special! No hint of premox ... Drunk over three evenings. "Porusot" on the label. Light gold. Classic Roulot reduction on opening. A lovely bouquet of flint, fine Meyer lemon, baking spice, wet limestone and small white flowers. On opening, huge green apple intense acidity that receded only a little over the next hours and days. Still, drinking very young and primary (even on the second evening). Complex interplay of mainly citric and minerals flavours especially limes, chalk and graphite, with pears, lemons, blanched almonds and cashews and a little cinnamon. More fine Puligny-Montrachet than classic Meursault. Beautiful acidity. Finishes very long, dry and a little saline. Still drinking pretty much the same on the third evening. Well-stored, non-premoxed bottles - ideally - could use another two or three years.
