Giovanni Canonica tasting at HAN. Aired few hours in bottle already. Drank in Conterno Sensory. Appearance is clear, medium intensity, garnet colour. ong legs. Nose medium intensity, with aromas of dark earth, balsamic, dark herbs, dark red cherries. Developing. On the palate, dry, high acidity, high alcohol (14.5%), structured high tannins, full body. Medium+ flavour intensity, with flavours of ripe dark red cherries, dark plums, dark earth, balsamic, herbs, spices. Very long finish. Very good quality. Powerful dark big traditional Barolo. Will do well with a bit more age development.

Day one it was a touch tight and very savoury and meaty. Better on day 2 with more elegance and rose petals. Lovely. No rush to drink but no crime to have one now just give it plenty of air. 4

Wow this is good! So open and expressive, right out of the bottle. Love the style of these wines, loads of crunchy red fruit and delicate, detailed structure. So delicious!

Red fruited strawberries, expressive, racy, energetic, so much going on here, so many moving parts, effortlessly classy, even better than another less pristine bottle I tried recently, and a big improvement on the somewhat wayward 2009 …’artisanal’ (NP-M).

Coming from my cold cellar, this tastes young. Tannin is front and center. Needs to age in bottle in order to strut it's stuff.
