One of two chardonnays served at our wine tasting party- other was a Napa chardonnay from Alpha Omega (2009). The contrast in styles between the two wines was striking. The Martinelli was a much bigger wine, the tropical fruit was the primarily flavor profile. Our friends at the party preferred the Martinelli, largely based upon its stronger fruit profile.
Longtime fan of Martinelli Chardonnay, and this one doesn't disappoint. It tends to favor the butterscotch/oak side of things, but not to the point of annoyance. Very full bodied, with a nice acidic lift at the back end, though there is a pronounced bit of heat, too. Long length...a serious wine.
