My 2nd of 3 bottles and this one was even better than the first bottle. Opened an hour before drinking. Light to moderate sediment. Purple color with a little bricking. Sweet red fruit on the nose. Integrated tannins that swirl on the palate and hold everything together. Smooth texture with meaty notes and a portlike richness to the black and red fruit. We drank this alongside the 2007 Corino Barolo which was also very nice. 96 points.

Made gnocchi with morel mushrooms sautéed in garlic and olive oil, and quickly steamed broccoli with parmagiano cheese. Opened this bottled only 20 minutes beforehand. Started spicy but with a good finish. Has that typical leather and structure one expects with barolo, but a little more fruit. Well integrated and drinking well now. Great play off of the earthiness of the mushrooms.

2001 was the last vintage that brothers Giovanni and Renato Corino made wine under the same label. Only 200 cases imported. This normally sells for $100. I found this on sale for $30 about 3 years ago. Made in a modern style. Grapes from the oldest vines in the Giachini vineyard are used to make this wine. I opened my first bottle of this with Allred and our wives over the weekend. Decanted for 1 hour. We paired it with ribeyes. Stir fried kale, hash browns on the grill and a caprese salad. Drank it alongside a 1997 Batasiola Barbaresco and a 1999 Ceretto Bernardot Barbaresco. This wine was head and shoulders above it's competitors. Well rounded with balanced tannins. Rich red fruit notes with a supple texture. Primarily plum and red currants. Excellent match with the dinner. This wine lingered on the palate during it's long finish. 94 points.

2 hour decant. Extremely floral on the nose. Tannins pronounced, needs to be accompanied with meats. Very nice.

A very nice aged Barolo. Bricking and clear around the rim but still has nice vibrancy to the fruit. Well balanced and drinking well.
