Deep ruby. Dark and concentrated. Deep black fruits, plum and cherry, hints of tar and vegetation. Tannins are big and, despite the age, still slightly harsh. Needs food

Smoky, deep, dark nose - tar and slate. So dark, almost black. Just as much "stone" (granite?) as fruit; seriously abrasive and aggressive. And it's a 2009! A really difficult wine but obviously an accomplishment because it's balanced, distinctive and has superb structure. Impressive, but not for me.

Bustling with ripe black fruit and hints of white pepper. Robust tannins that opened up a touch after a few hours in the decanter and glass. Agree with others, better with food. In my case, Christmas dinner leftovers

Decanted for a good couple of hours. This is bursting with acid and tannin but has sufficient fruit to support it - plenty of dark/black fruits, saddle leather, pine. The tannins really are dry and scrubbing and mouthcoating, as you would expect, but perfect foil for rib-eye or the like and even manageable without food if you like robust reds in their own right.
