Fantastic! Everything still there!! Still som fruit, well balanced with nice acidity and with a complexity that only great vintages can have. What a surprise! Also crystal clear without any discolorations or larger precipitates. What a lovely old Barolo.

Coffee, prune, oxidation, just awful upon opening, good color though. 8 hours later this has performed an admirable turnaround, a glimpse of fruit, a little oxidation, some volatility remains, sappy, tar, caramel, good freshness and amazingly still a modicum of tannin. Fun to drink, and impressive to see a wine recover like this but not a great wine by any stretch.

Serious funk and oxidation upon cork removal, but, as expected, all of that was gone after 2 hours in decanter. Still holding a med>med+ ruby core, no real sign of age. And while the acids and tannins are performing in line (i.e. quite well) with other well-grown 64s, the fruit on this is beginning to fade. The lighter side of medium-bodied now, with early notes of prunes and raisins ultimately giving way to calcareous soil and red berries after some time beyond the initial 2 hours. All in all, I like it for what it is, and I have to wonder what it was like at several points across its life; a fun ride. 13,5% abv. Drink now.
