Blind tasting of Grand Cercle wines 2011 vintage: Part III (Château Bellefont-Belcier): Hint of pyrazine? Smooth and fruit driven, however, medium tannin, medium acidity, well balanced and a good drink. Interesting to taste again backwards after the next wine (Reclos de la Couronne) as it seems almost like a relief, as if having a beer after a long tasting of tannin filled reds.

This has changed considerably in the few months since I first tried this in a quaint NYC French restaurant. Back then, this wine had wonderful structure and ample fruit and complimented cheese and red meat quite well. I later bought a case which I now hope I will not regret. Now, I can only hope this wine is going through a dumb phase. The past 2 bottles have muted tannin, fruit, and acidity. Even after a long decant this isn't close to the quality of the same Bordeaux I enjoyed at the restaurant. I'm hoping some more time in the bottle will help.

Ok for a mid week quaffer but body is medium to light, juicy with no real weight or tannins to frame the red currants, blueberries.

Drank with my old fraternity brothers on a hunting trip in Western MA. Dark fruit, cinnamon spice. But overall pretty simple.
