Winorama: A winter in Wineland III; 1/4/2019-1/13/2019 (Portland/Willamette, Eureka, Napa): From the beginning I was a bigger believer in the '11 vintage than most. A few years ago when the '12s were coming out we were still trying to buy the leftover '11s. This makes me feel a bit vindicated. It's still quite young, but it's really coming along quite nicely. There's a bit of a juiciness to the wine while still staying restrained. There's a darkness here. Lots of dried fruits and potpourri. Very interesting. Got a few more bottles for our collection. Looking forward to seeing it continue to evolve.

Moderate color. Big, lovely, slightly heavy earthy nose. Subdued fruit initially followed by sour cherry. Quite tart. Long finish. Kept getting better with air and slight warming - a tad cool at first. Lovely!

Initially closed with limited sromatics and flavor. Directionally dull. Quickly evolved over half an hour to a lovely state. I think it will get better over the next two years or so. Open at least an hour before serving. Decanting for aeration should not be necessary.
