Tasted alongside an Opus One, a Chateau Clerc Milon, a Chateau Cantemerle and a Chateau Pedesclaux. It was a clear winner along with the Clerc Milon (2005). Decanted for about 90 minutes. there were very faint hints of orange fringing a clear deep purple color;complex nose with leather, graphite and wet stone alongside dark fruit, spring scents and slightly dusty air, and nice balance although tannins are still dominant on a long finish.

Holiday tasting (EBCC): Walk around tasting. There's absolutely nothing wrong with this little 4th growth from a lesser vintage. Textbook Bordeaux with currants, tobacco and underbrush notes. Red berry fruit with softened tannin and balancing acidity. This was double decanted off its sediment an hour before the tasting began.

Medium ruby with pinkish hue. Ripe blackberry aromas and fresh grass and mint as well as a bit of cloves. Tannins still some bite, while acids give a sense of freshness, and with flavours of brine, nutmeg, cloves, redcurrants, red cherry, fresh cut grass, tar and graphite. Quite a length at the back and complex. Nice!

A surprisingly delicious wine. Had low expectations, but this is classic Pauillac. Drinking wonderfully now. Could hold for a a few more years. Lovely
