From a collection of misfit wines that got lost in the back of the cellar, I was pretty certain thatches would be DOA, but it turned out to be a pleasant surprise.
This has a vibrant, almost unnatural, canary yellow color. Like, if you saw this is a movie, you would likely wonder why the hell they didn't just use real wine. Surprisingly fresh and floral on the nose. Despite the age, this is still quite fruit forward, with lemons, baked apple and pineapple. Beyond that, there's light spice, touches of slightly creamy vanilla and a wooly sort of lanolin thing. Strong mineral notes on a lingering finish. Probably medium- acidity, but this doesn't drink fat and seems a lot leaner than what I expect from having younger bottles of this. Perhaps it's because of the very cool 2011 growing season.
I fully expected this to be a disaster and maybe this bottle is uniquely sound, so it's hard to not to say drink asap, but this still has quite a bit of life to it and it gained more flesh with air. This represents the sum total of my 10 year-old CA Roussane experience, so, who knows, maybe it's a thing.

This is cruising along nicely, very much ready to drink now, but no rush. Very nice, balanced luxurious style with mid-palate density and a long finish, floral, inviting nose. I agree with VINO_PER_TUTTI that it could be confused for a Chardonnay if you're not paying close attention.

(Stolpman Roussanne L'Avion) Light yellow color; lanolin, tart baked apple nose; tasty, lanolin, tart baked apple, cinnamon palate; could use 1-2 years; medium-plus finish

A delicious white wine. Stands up beautifully after so many years in the bottle.
