Really like this wine. This was the second attempt at it and first with a clean palate. For an off year it has some very good qualities. Aromas of dark cherry with hints of eucalyptus bring out, as other people have commented, a more European feel to the wine. Very smooth mouthfeel with a velvet finish and a lingering finish. It is in a very nice spot now. Once again it was another wine the wife agreed on.

Opened 30 min before drinking, but no decant. Deep rusty magenta color. Mushroom, radish, black cherry, anise and tobacco on the rich and relatively green nose. Smooth, but spicy palate. Soft, firm tannins on the long finish.

Solid Napa Cab. 2011 was an off year, so this has a unique nose and palate, but I enjoyed it. Most would probably say 2011 had a more European flavor. I think there was some vegetable on the nose (maybe celery) alongside some nice fruit.

Mixing plum, black cherry and tobacco with savory herb and spicy oak accents, this deep ruby wine (100% Cabernet Sauvignon) is somewhat "Old World" in character. Medium-to-full-bodied, freshly acidic, seamlessly alcoholic (14.5%) and with medium grippy tannins, it retains good density on the middle palate and closes with a medium-length, mineral-laden finish. Considering the challenges of the 2011 growing season, this Cabernet is a rousing success. Drink 2018-2025.

Reminds me of an SLV with more rounded fruit and a bit less elegance. Enjoyable to drink but holding back and not much wow factor. Will probably gain in elegance in a couple years and get a higher score.
