  • Really no difference from 5 months ago when I wrote, “Pale sunshine in the glass delivers a nose full of butter, golden apple, Asian pear, lemon oil, popcorn and vanilla which threads the palate precisely. Those flavors spread across the palate where they are joined by creamed corn and celery making for a broad array of taste sensations and layers of complexity. The round and full mouthfeel is seamless from attack to creamy finish. Not a trace of heat from the alcohol as in a prior bottle.” 14.9% alc. With french onion soup. Recommended with a nod to Highly Recommended.

  • Paired next to the Gaillard St. Joseph of the same vintage, this LWC Sierra Mar Chard profiles its distinctions while both wines shine through clearly with their respective benefits. The color is golden straw. The nose is all apple pie, baking spices, biscuit, and lemon oil. But the alcohol comes through on the nose. All of those scents are bright and clean on the palate with the added elements of milk and lemon meringue pie. The wine pairs beautifully with the meal. As the wine warms the alcohol comes through big on the palate. As long as the finish is, it’s eclipsed by the Gaillard St. Joe. 14.9% alc. With herb & pistachio crusted halibut and creamed leeks in the company of Ben Brown and fiancée Courtney. Recommended.

  • This Chard is just now coming into its own. The color is a rich golden yellow. The nose lifts with the intensity of vanilla, baked apples, apple spices, mandarin orange and chamomile. The palate pops with the exactness of the nose, but with bigger and more intense focus and the added dimensions of pear, cinnamon, orange zest and tangerine. The acidity lifts the finish and carries the fruit forward in waves for an incredibly long time. Is this at peak? Not a clue, but it’s a very enjoyable pour just now. 14.9% alc. With French onion and bacon tart. Highly Recommended.

  • Too young! This wine - despite what Brian may say - has development yet before it. The favors are vivid with white pear, crisp apple, coconut milk, and spices. Crisp and precise, but so very big with vanilla elements. Despite the size of this wine, it is still restrain and not giving nearly as big as it will be ... it WILL be (using voice of Yoda). Hold for a year or more and try again. 14.9% alc. With French onion soup. Highly Recommended.
