  Very good, but overshadowed by a 1996 P-M Charmes-Chambertin VV at the same dinner. Actually, all the reds at the dinner were overshadowed by the white burgundies.

  Strange pinot to me. Huge tannins give the age. Tart cherries; almost balsamic. Herbs, mushrooms, and lots of oak. I don't feel like I have a good understanding of this wine or how it will age from here.
