Two hour decant cherry is the dominant personality of this in the nose and palate, with solid acidity providing structure. A little hot, air helps calm this aspect down. Medium mouthfeel with a medium finish. A decent version of this varietal but I have had better.

short decant; while I've had many a Passo wines in the past this is a far departure from others, less of the crunchy red fruit, and more of a full bodied, rounder mouthfeel with less obvious acid.

Red cherry and strong spice notes on the nose. Full bodied (massive 15.5% ABV) and unfortunately, it shows through a bit as the wine, even after five hours open, still showed high acidity, high tannins and even slightly hot. Red cherry upfront, opening up slightly through the middle with some red berry and wildberry notes. Finishes with earth, leather, spices, mint and licorice. Based on how the mid-body eventually started to open up, this wine may come into balance in time. But with the high alcohol level, coupled with high tannins and acidity, I don't know if there's enough fruit complexity there to make it worth the wait. While it may show better balance in the future, I'm not sure that's worth recommending buy and hold for 3+ additional years for only moderate future gain.

Popped & poured.
Primary red fruit on the nose. Lovely on the palate; while there is still some unresolved tannin here, an abundance of sweet/ripe red fruits. Deelish.
