  • Pleasant Rioja. Pleasant touch of oak and good, fresh acidity. Ready now and no real hurry.

  • dark, with inviting blackberry and spicy wood aromas. The palate is in contrast rather austere, tannic, and oak is prominent. Overall tasty and muscular and paired well with a Spanish meatball and saffron soup

  • A nose of some dark fruit and spice, dark purple in color. A medium to full bodied red blend with black cherry, plum, licorice and spice on finish, better values out there. www.winelx.com

  • A plummy, soft style. Plenty of toasty oak. Fun rather than elegant.

  • Appearance: Clear wine with a medium ruby colour, only the lightest of fadings on the rim.

Nose: Clean nose with a Medium intensity. This wine is developing.

Not particularly expressive on the nose and more youthful than I would have expected. A relatively generic blend of red and black fruit, pipe tobacco and sweet spice are present but struggling for harmony. A long, pleasant streak of vanilla gives this nose a life-line.

    Palate:
    Dry
    Medium+ acidity
    Medium+ alcohol
    Medium+ tannins
    Medium intensity
    Medium+ body
    Medium+ finish

The palate far exceeds the nose - a pleasant surprise and I am normally expecting the opposite! Well structured with smooth tannins, a lively acidity and a fresh fruit feel. Nutmeg and cloves take over fading into an extended finish with fresh fruit and baking spices.

Very good quality Tempranillo blend from La Rioja. Can drink now but I would recommend a few years to allow this wine to add some layers of complexity - the structure is there to support this and it should make for more interesting drinking. At 13 euros a bottle, excellent QPR.
